Gan Tian
My name is Gan Tian, the founder of "Artist in the Neighborhood," a unique online platform passionately dedicated to bridging the gap between talented neighborhood artists and enthusiastic art lovers. My personal journey in the art world mirrors the vibrancy and diversity of the artworks we showcase on our platform.
I embarked on a journey moving from mainland China to Singapore at the age of 15 in 2004. This transition wasn't just a change in geography; it marked the start of a significant chapter in my life, rich in learning and self-discovery. I spent the first ten years of my career immersed in the dynamic realm of finance, working as a business and data analyst. This phase of my life sharpened my analytical abilities and deepened my understanding of business intricacies, which later proved to be an invaluable asset in my entrepreneurial endeavor.
Parallel to my professional pursuits, I nurtured a growing passion for art, kindled at the young age of 7 with my first brush stroke in Chinese calligraphy. For me, calligraphy was more than a mere hobby; it was a portal to the vast and profound universe of Chinese culture, arts, and history. My commitment to this art form led me to the role of president of the Chinese Calligraphy Society at Temasek Junior College. It was here that I deepened my artistic engagement and honed my skills, culminating in several national calligraphy awards. It was an honor to have my work selected as a gift to the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, symbolizing the cultural bridge between nations.
Understanding the unique challenges and joys of being a neighborhood artist, I envisioned our platform to be more than a mere marketplace. "Artist in the Neighborhood" is a vibrant community, a nurturing ground where artists can thrive, share, and celebrate creativity. We aim to democratize art, making it accessible and relatable, thereby fostering a thriving community of creators and appreciators.
Thank you for embarking on this artistic journey with me. I eagerly look forward to connecting with you, exploring new artistic horizons, and celebrating the beauty and diversity of neighborhood art together.
