Hu Kun
Hu Kun, born in 1976 in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, China, comes from a family with a long tradition in calligraphy and painting, inheriting a profound cultural and artistic heritage from an early age. His ancestor, Hu Jia Yu, was a founder of the Beiyang Fleet, as well as a painter and calligrapher; his father, Hu Baolin, is a renowned painter and collector who established the private Nanchang Baolin Museum, which houses collections ranging from authentic calligraphy and paintings from the Sui, Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasties to contemporary artworks.
After nearly thirty years of silently studying and researching the family's collection of authentic pieces, Hu Kun's work gradually gained recognition and importance in the art industry, with both domestic and overseas collectors purchasing and collecting his works. As more people began to take interest in his work, Hu Kun started to teach at the request of many, covering topics such as fine brush painting, line drawing, coloring of Buddha statues, and large-scale murals. His students come from over a dozen countries. To spread excellent culture, Hu Kun has not only nurtured many students but also established the art school "Dao into Painting," widely accepting disciples. His teaching methods are varied, including in-person and online courses. He developed his own painting theory, "Dao into Painting," starting from little-known mental techniques, allowing beginners to draw impressive line drawings of figures within just a few days.
In recent years, Hu Kun was invited by the Jiangxi Jingdezhen Soft Power Research Institute to create works on porcelain and opened courses in Jingdezhen to improve the painting art level of traditional craftsmen, dedicating himself to building a personal cultural IP.
Hu Kun eagerly looks forward to collaborating with artists and institutions both domestically and internationally to expand his educational influence. He is determined to establish and pass down an art school that combines Buddhist and Taoist philosophies, hoping that this art system will last for at least five hundred years. The Artist in the Neighbourhood platform appreciates Teacher Hu Kun's persistent efforts and innovative spirit, which have injected new vitality into the art world, and also calls on art lovers to support him.
